Zollikofer AG prints with gray balance control from System Brunner

With its wide variety of product solutions in the fields of crossmedia, printing, finishing and publishing, Zollikofer AG with its headquarters in St. Gallen, Switzerland, is a modern, innovative and future-oriented company. At the beginning of this year a 16-page ROTOMAN in the company's printing plant was upgraded with the fully automatic CCS-Instrument Flight (CCS-IF) color control system from Quad Tech/System Brunner.

Zollikofer AG is a member of the Swiss Printers Group and this installation signalled the start of a comprehensive investment program. In the coming weeks and months, altogether three new CCS-IF systems are to be installed at companies of the Swiss Printers Group and other existing color control systems are to be upgraded. With Instrument Flight, the only color control system to use the proven gray balance regulation method, the color balances, tone value increases, solid ink densities, conformities, color contamination and overprint behavior are analyzed and controlled. More than 30 process parameters are used to calculate the recommended regulations for all printing units aimed at achieving a harmonized gray balance as well as the ideal ink/water balance and thus the most stable tone value increases.

This results in better conformity between the proof and the production run, highly stable production, and also saves time, waste sheets and other costs in the makeready phase and during the run. This also benefits the environment and is another important argument in favor of Zollikofer AG who demonstrate their ecological awareness by observing the Forest Stewardship Council directives.
