Eurostandard/Globalstandard System Brunner* - Definitions
Eurostandard/Globalstandard is System Brunner’s standardization concept that, since its introduction in 1975, has been continually expanded and upgraded to keep pace with technological developments in all process stages of proofing, printing plates and printing, and today represents the most comprehensive definition of a standard.
The Eurostandard System Brunner* ICC profiles already used by many System Brunner customers are now available to the entire graphics industry as a download from the Website www.systembrunner.ch In future the Eurostandard System Brunner* profile series will consist of Eurostandard Coated, Webcoated, Uncoated and News, whereby the profiles Coated and Web-coated will be released first of all.
Thanks to its INSTRUMENT FLIGHT* technology, System Brunner is able to describe, control and rate the printing process most precisely. And because of this customers have often requested System Brunner to make defined Eurostandard profiles available to provide optimal color depiction of print data in accordance with the comprehensive Eurostandard definitions. By releasing the profiles System Brunner can now comply with this request.
All profiles are based on the comprehensive Eurostandard print specifications and have been produced under standardized printing conditions. The ICC profiles are supplemented by the relevant CSF color setting files for Adobe Creative Suite with which the color settings of the Adobe applications concerned can be synchronized by a mouse click.
With the ICC profiles that have been carefully produced paying close attention to an optimal gray balance, color transformations in image editing can be carried out, image data checked on a monitor (softproof) and finally offset printing results simulated by digital proof prints (hard-proofs). This enables every user to predict an optimal and standardized print result. All this makes the profile an important aid for transporting and visualizing the print data color-correct at any time in the digital prepress workflows all based on Color Management.
Still, a profile alone is not a standard and also does not yet guarantee an optimal proof or print result and therefore should not be overrated in the context of standardization. For example, one single profile cannot meet all image demands and as a result different separation settings or also gray stabilization may be necessary. For this reason System Brunner also makes the description data available to the prospective users on request so they can produce their own profiles with specific separation characteristics.
Standardization primarily means mastering and controlling the process, in every process step along the value adding chain, and every day with every job. Only then do the individual aids and tools interlock so that one can justifiably claim to have standardized print production over all process stages.
